Makoto Hanabata leads Nanobiz's Displays & Electronic Materials practice, and specializes in developing strategic technology, marketing and sales alliances with Japanese and Asian companies seeking to establish and expand their global business.   He also assists smaller companies identify and develop strategic alliances with larger Asian display and electronic materials companies.

Dr. Hanabata holds BS and MS degrees in Applied Chemistry and a PhD in Technology, all from Osaka University in Japan.  In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he has also serves as a visiting professor of industrial sciences for prominent universities in Japan including Kyoto Institute of Technology, Toyama Prefecture University and Kanagawa University.  He has received the Chemical Technology Award from Kinki Kagaru Kyoukai and the President Award and Research Director Award from Sumitomo Chemical Company, all in recognition of his outstanding technical and business achievements.

Dr. Hanabata has held senior technical and management positions with several prestigious Japanese chemical and advanced materials companies, including roles as Managing Director, Performance Materials Division and Managing Director, Electronic Materials Research Laboratory for Nissan Chemical, where he led planning, business and new product development initiatives.  Prior to that, he served as Managing Director for KRI International where he focused on new product development for functional and photo-functional materials, and Director of Marketing & Development for Sumitomo Chemical Company.

Dr. Hanabata is a recognized expert in industrial applications and product development involving photosensitive organic-inorganic hybrid materials, photo-functional materials and resists, electronic materials, displays and related fabs.  He is particularly adept at identifying growth and new market opportunities for companies in these segments as well as structuring and executing alliances between small and larger companies as channel partners.
